Useful Addresses

It is impossible to list here all of the organisations which might be able to help you learn stress management techniques - there are simply too many to mention! However, this list combined with the following Selected Reading list, should give a good indication of how you can find out more.

Different centres will charge different rates, so it may be worth checking out a few.

Disclaimer

This list is not comprehensive nor is it a recommendation or endorsement of any organisation or any particular agency. Readers should note that they use this information at their own risk.

Selected Reading List

There are numerous books, videos and audio tapes on the market which are designed to help you overcome stress and learn to relax. It is impossible to list them all here. Most bookshops will have a 'health' or 'mind and body' section, as do most libraries. You will probably find that most large music/video shops will have videos on stress and relaxation techniques.

The books listed below have been chosen because they are helpful, easy to read (not too technical!) and all in paperback.

The Healing Factor: A Guide to Positive Health - Dr H E Stanton

Macdonald/Optima 1988

Holistic London - K Brady & M Considine

Brainwave 1991

Instant Stress Cure - Lynn Marshall

Century Hutchinson Ltd 1988

Managing Stress - U Markham

Element 1990

Peace from Nervous Suffering- Claire Weeks

Angus & Robertson 1972

Personal Change through Self Hypnosis- Pam Young

The Plus Factor: A Guide to Positive Living- Dr H E Stanton

Self Help for your Nerves- Claire Weekes

Angus & Robertson 1969

The Stress Factor- Dr H E Stanton

Macdonald/Optima 1983

Stress Management- E Charlesworth

Corgi 1989

Stresswise: A Practical Guide- Looker & Gregson

All of the information above is from a leaflet distributed by LWT and I am grateful for their approval to use it carte blanche. The Relaxation guide is my own.
