"The first best thing is never to be born. The second best thing is to die immediately after birth. And the third best thing is to die as soon as possible."

Panic is a state of acute and severe anxiety.
The origins of panic!!!
A panic attack can appear out of the blue, for no apparent reason, and at any time.

Assume you are walking down the street, by the side of a hedge. You suddenly get an urge to jump over the hedge without looking at what is behind it ! You land in a field over on the other side of the hedge, and there in front of you is a huge angry bull.
As soon as it sees you it starts to charge at you.

In your mind you may consider either standing your ground and tackling the beast (fight); running away (flight); or frozen in fear (fright).

A Panic Attack is when you jump that fence, and although you see nothing in the field to be frightened of, your mind tells you that there is something to be afraid of, and to run away from! (There is no bull, but your mind tricks you into believing that there is one!)

This is a panic attack. The fear of a none-life-threatening event.

Because we all have this response system, (Fight or Flight), that helps us to survive, but we rarely need it these days, although we sometimes find that it will come into play at the most inappropriate times and creates psychological problems for us in the shape of anxiety, or more advanced...into either phobias or obsessive behaviour.

Once our mind decides that we are in a life threatening situation, (whether we are or not) it produces adrenaline and noradrenaline in the body which, as powerful hormones, create the conditions to help us fight or run. They can also produce an uncontrolled pattern of breathing, called hyperventilation, which can create many problems, in both the body and the mind!

Educate yourself about the Body, the Adrenal System, Gas exchange (Breathing), breathing correctly, and learn How to Relax. These will help you enormously to tackle the Fear and Terror that you suffer during these Panic Attacks.

Once you are aware of all these things, put them into practise. Preferably with the support of your GP and a caring friend or partner. You will then be well on your way to a panic free lifestyle. In fact it is the only way I am aware of, that is 100% effective!!!
